 I just thought I would close the loop on this. On December 31, 2009, Disney Finalized the deal to acquire Marvel. Now, we just have to wait to see what happens.

 I find Webcomics are a great way to pass the time between DCBService book shipments. Best of all, they are free. I wanted to highlight a new series by Christopher Wrann called Aquarium Drinking, which can found at http://aquariumdrinking.com/ Aquarium Drinking follows three friends as they stumble toward adulthood in these tumultuous times. With their twenties coming to an end. Jeff, Luke and PJ are learning that they must let go of the revelry and regrets of the past if they are going to survive the next stage of their lives. There is a new page every Sunday and you can subscribe to an RSS feed to make sure you don't miss it. The current storyline is very topical in this current economy and is both insightful and humorous. I can't help but think the Wrann's job as bartender job has helped him to develop his intuition and observations about the human condition. In the interest of full disclosure, Christopher Wrann I are both in the Comic Book Artist Guild, together and I think he is a good guy as well as a good writer. Disney Expands Deal With Stan Lee 01/13/2010
 Everyone knew about Disney's plan to acquire Marvel. But, what many may not remember was that the Mouse had previously entered into an arrangement with Stan Lee to develop entertainment for Disney in 2007. The Walt Disney Co. upped its interest in this deal by exercising a first look option and acquiring a 10 percent stake in POW! Entertainment for $2.5 million. Also interesting, is the fact that this new deal includes exclusive consulting services and enhanced rights to POW! content. Will Disney be picking Stan's brain about another recent acquisition?
More after the jump.  On Friday, Marvel filed a suit against the estate of Jack Kirby related to terminations filed earlier this concerning several characters Jack Kirby allegedly created while at Marvel.

 Those great guys at Comic Geek Speak have had me on their show a couple of times to discuss copyright and character ownership. I also wrote a couple of articles on the subject, which can be found here.
Inevitably, the comes up as to why we need such intricate copyright protection. So, in the course of my various travels, I came across some really bad knockoff action figures that demonstrates the importance of these laws. Over the holidays, I sent the geeks a care package with some of these figures. They opened it on the air in Episode 761.
