Final Destination Number 1 Again

The Final Destination took the top spot over the weekend with $12.3 million. Inglourious Basterds placed second $11.6 million.  The new release, Gamer by Lion Gates Films was fourth with $9.1 Million.  Once again, horror/scifi dominated the box office.  Other notables were District 9 (5th with $7.1 million); Halloween II (6th with $5.7 million); G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Par. (8th with $5,1); and The Time Traveler's Wife (10th with $4.3 million).  Shorts fell out of the top ten with only $2.7 million.

The Making of the New Superman Movie May be Better than the Movie.

Scifiwire.com  has a story about the legal feud between Brian Quintana and Jon Peters.  Quintana and Peters are two producers on the new Superman: Man of Steel.
 

The Hollywood Reporter's legal blog reported on Quintana suing Peters over money owed him as well as over alleged sexual harassment and "outrageous demands of his services.... [including] perjury, the forgery of signatures, the procurement of illegal drugs, tax and other accounting fraud, and the assistance and cover-up of some extreme sexual behavior."

Also among the demands reportedly placed on Quintana by Peters was a "request to help cover up the statutory rape of Peters' daughter."

Apparently, a restraining order was entered against Peter and the producer now needs to stay 100 yards away from Quintana after he told Quintana threatened his former partner at a deposition.  Peters' lawyer says the restraining order is unfounded and that Peters' losing his temper was due to Quintana throwing kisses at Peters during the deposition.

A hearing is set for today in the case. 

On the superhero front, Peters has produced, Batman, Batman Returns, Wild Wild West, the Legend of Billie Jean, and Superman Returns.  Perhaps the Man of Steel should also request a restraining order.
