Prose Fiction:
World's Beyond: A CAG Prose Project
There are other worlds, similar to ours but different in many respects. They may be alien worlds in galaxies far away, worlds in which humanity has met its dreadful end, worlds that already exist within our future. The possibilities stretch only as far as the imagination. But, no matter where, when or how these worlds exist, they are all one thing…WORLDS BEYOND.
Not only did I contribute "It all Started with a Mouse." A murder mystery that takes place in a theme park where the animatronic characters are more than they appear to be, but I also edited this book.

Sky Girl and the Superheroic Legacy (iEnovel.com)
Imagine living up to a legacy that no one can remember. Sky Girl is the story of an ordinary teenager with an extraordinary destiny.
DeDe Christopher is an average high school sophomore with dreams of winning the National Gymnastic Tournament and dating the school quarterback. But her world changes when DeDe begins to develop fantastic abilities that are strangely similar to those of a fictional comic book superhero named SkyBoy. With the help of her best friend, Jason, a self-proclaimed comic geek, DeDe begins a quest to discover her true destiny as she confronts the all-too-real enemies and allies of SkyBoy. She must deal with capes, apes, and aliens to find a way to live up to a legacy that no one can remember and become Sky Girl.

A Thousand Faces Presents The Fall 2009 Issue of The Quarterly Journal of Superhuman Fiction
Issue 10 of The Quarterly Journal of Superhero Fiction (Fall, 2009) features a story I wrote called “The Return of Power Boy.” I should note that this is the first story I ever authored. The story originally was supposed to be included as part of a Comic Geek Speak prose project that never manifested (listeners of the CGS podcast may recognize the chraracters named Peter and Bryan, who play a very important role in the story). The Return of Power Boy was my gateway into scifi and fantasy writing. Without giving too much away, the story provides a very dark look at what happens when the super villain wins his never ending battles against his heroic nemesis. In a strange case of coincidence, this story was the inspiration for my upcoming novel, Sky Girl: Rebirth, which will be released by iEnovel early next year. And while Sky Girl ended up being much different character and a more light-hearted book, there are definitely some common themes between the two tales.

Psi-Kotic (Metahuman Press)
Beatriz “Betty” Ortiz was always intuitive. This skill helped her survive two tours in Iraq. Now stateside, she is at the wrong place at the wrong time when a suicide bomber from a White Supremacist group strikes. The explosion horrifically scars Betty and imbeds pieces of the bomber’s human shrapnel under her skin. The explosion also gives Betty the subconscious ability to use 66% of her brain. As a result, Betty discovers that she merely has to touch a person and she will “learn” their skill and ability. But, Betty’s abilities come with a high price. The human shrapnel imbedded in her skin forces her to share her mind and memories with James Jefferson, the suicide bomber, who can take over her body when she sleeps. Betty discovers, through Jefferson’s memories, the location of the Order of White Loyal Supremacists, the group responsible for the bombing. When no one believes her, she realizes that she must stop the terrorists personally. Betty dons a colorful costume and adopts the identity of Psi-Kotic.
