![]() You can win a date with Hayden Panettiere. Well, sort of. The Heroes star is on EBay auctioning off offering a lucky fan the chance to join her for a whale and dolphin watching Cruise to raise money for The Whaleman Foundation. ![]() This is not the first time Hayden has put her money where her mouth is. In 2007, Hayden and five other surfers paddled out into the sea on their boards in an attempt to disrupt Japan's annual dolphin slaughter. And while her character of Claire cannot be hurt on the show, the far-from-indestructible Hayden braved boot hooks and bodily harm in the name of her cause. She even had a warrant issued for her arrest. “I was very excited that people were interested in what we did,” she said to reporters . “In this town, you tend to only get publicity for not wearing underwear or going to rehab.” Access Hollywood covered it in the below clip: (There are much more graphic tributes on YouTube as well) ![]() I met Hayden during the 2007 NYCC at an event for the charity. She was quite charming and passionate (about the cause not me :-). She was also a great sport. I personally witnessed several women (and at least one man) dressed as bloody cheerleaders ask her for a picture. In some ways, I think NYCC may have been scarier for Hayden than her experience in Japan. ![]() The starting bid for the whale watching cruise auction is $1,500 and can be found here. Bidding closes September 4 at 8pm EST. If you can't afford this auction, Hayden also sells her old outfits on PanettiereCloset.com to raise money for the cause or you can donate directly to The Whaleman Foundation by clicking here. ![]() I should also add that the foundation has also listed another cruise for auction. This one is with Isabel Lucas. Isabel Lucas is an Australian actress perhaps best known for her role as Tasha Andrews on the Australian television soap opera Home and Away (2003–2006) and for her active role in various environmental awareness organizations including Greenpeace International. Lucas moved to Los Angeles in early 2008 and has since been featured in film and television projects including Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Rights Revoked, a documentary shot with friend and actress Elissa Sursara for Animal Planet. Bids start at $1,500 and the auction can be found here.
