![]() The first D23 Expo concluded Sunday. The show was a huge success as Diney fans and big name guests came together to celebrate the magic that is Disney, including Johnny Depp, the Cast of Dancing with the Stars, John Travolta, Nicolas Cage, Tim Burton and Miley Cyrus. There were a lot of announcements over the weekend. I already posted about President and Chief Executive Bob Iger’s promise not to Disneyfy Marvel, the theme parks and the Muppets. Now, I have scoured the web to find the rest of the announcements (at least the most interesting ones.) Part II Focuses on the movies. More are after the jump:

![]() Patrick Swayze lost his battle to cancer this week. And if his roles in Donnie Darko, Ghost, and Red Dawn don't earn him a tribute on this site, the fact that he dressed in drag in To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar sure does. (After all, Julie Newmar, of course, was Catwoman in the 1960s Batman show.) More after the jump. ![]() Not to be outdone by the recent announcements of Marvel, Disney and Warner Brothers, Universal Studios Orlando released details about its upcoming addition to Islands of Adventure, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and unveiled new details (including a park map) at their site. Now, up front, I have to admit that I walked out the sneak preview that was shown on Preview Night of the San Diego ComicCon. But, since the first airing of the premier had the highest ratings in WB history (with 4.8 million viewers and a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49) I thought I would give Vampire Diaries another chance. (the fact that my wife really wanted to watch the show also factored in my decision). And why not give it a chance? After all, this show was created by Kevin Williamson, creator of the Scream Franchise and Dawson's Creek. After a great opening scene, this show rapidly became way more Dawson. More after the jump (with video). ![]() I'm not sure if you are aware that the Walt Disney Company has this extremely overpriced club called D23. For an annual fee of $75.00 you get a four issue magazine subscription to D23 Magazine (cover price $15.95, which comes to $63.80 if you bought them on the newsstand—"Wow, that's a savings of over negative fifteen percent."), and the chance to spend more money to buy exclusive merchandise from their website, as well as tickets to exclusive events. But, I digress. The point, after the jump ![]() Amidst all the exciting DC and Marvel news, I completely forgot to post that USA Today has put up this week's strip for the Superman story featured in Wednesday's comics. Personally, I am enjoying the Supergirl story by Jimmy Palmiotti (with art by Amanda Conner) much more. Still, you can't beat the price of the Superman strip since it is free. Get it here. ![]() Metahuman Press has posted Issue 6 of my original series: Psi-Kotic. Come read part 3 of the "What I Really Want To Do Is Direct" storyline and see what your friends, real and imagined, are up to. Come read All It Takes Is A Little Confidence at Metahumanpress.com. Best of all, it's free. A synopsis of the series after the jump. A week after the announcement that Disney is buying Marvel, and in a move allegedly in the works for two years, Warner Brothers has appointing Diane Nelson (President, Warner Premiere) to run DC Comics, which will now be known as DC Entertainment. Of course, that means that Paul Levitz will be stepping down. With this move, Warner Brothers will be taking a larger hand in running DC Comics.
